If there were ever a scale that one could make that would rate how difficult certain health issues are to couples, infertility has to rank among the top. It isn’t that there are more severe diseases or health conditions that are less important or challenging, it is just that infertility is such an emotional and mental strain on couples. It is hard, especially for the woman, to feel that something is ‘wrong’ with her. In many cases, there are more natural means that can be used to help conceive. While it is true that the male partner can be the one with the issue that is affecting their ability to conceive, it often falls upon the women both emotionally and spiritually.
With the traditional medical approaches, there are hormonal injections, many doctor’s appointments, possibilities of multiples, etc. There are many issues that need to be considered. Now, let’s not overlook the fact that these modern medical practices have allowed many couples to realize their dream of having their own family. However, there are times when these conventional approaches simply do not work. What is a couple to do?
Well, there are many approaches outside of our Western medical system that have helped women for many years. One such approach is acupuncture. Traditional acupuncture treatment works by way of addressing blocked chi or a disruption of life force energy traveling along the meridians of the body. While this concept is still challenging for many Western societies to grasp, it has shown promise.
A more recent infertility treatment that was nationally syndicated in the news media was how chiropractic can help women to conceive. Granted, chiropractic has traditionally thought of as a treatment for back pain and other musculoskeletal related conditions. So, how can it help with infertility?
Chiropractic works by releasing the interference within the nervous system that relays energy and information from the brain and spinal cord to all the tissues and cells of the body. If there is distortion or disturbance in the nerve system’s ability to relay these messages, a host of disorders and symptoms can result. Infertility is just one among them. While you might think of chiropractic as a treatment for infertility, it is much more a way of addressing nerve system interference than it is a treatment for any particular disease or condition.
